Nansha Cruise Terminal is a purpose-built, modern facility that opened in 2016, designed to handle mega-ships without breaking a sweat. You’ll dock directly — no tender required — and the terminal itself is clean, air-conditioned, and efficiently organised with customs and transport links close at hand.
The terminal sits roughly 60 kilometres south of central Guangzhou, so reaching the city’s historic districts takes around an hour by car or metro. Taxis and rideshares queue outside the terminal, and the Nansha Port metro station (Line 18) now makes the city far more accessible than it was just a few years ago.

Avoid buying counterfeit goods — enforcement has tightened considerably and the risk isn’t worth it. Instead, look for genuine Cantonese specialities: dried seafood, aged tangerine peel (chen pi), herbal teas, and hand-painted porcelain from nearby Chaozhou.
