Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 16, 2026

Cruises.to is operated by an individual based in Indiana, USA. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data.

Information We Collect

Information you provide

When you contact us by email, we receive your email address and any information you include in your message. If you create an account, we store the account information WordPress requires and the ports, cruises, planner notes, key dates, and optional email preferences you choose to save. Leaderboard participation is off by default; if you turn it on, your chosen screen name and aggregate port or country counts are public.

If you sign up for a sailing reminder on a port page, we store the email address and sail date you enter (and which port page you signed up from) solely to send you two reminder emails timed to that sailing — a port-day plan about 60 days before and a checklist about two weeks before. Every reminder email contains a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all future reminders.

Cruise itinerary processing

When you paste or upload an itinerary, we extract the cruise line, ship, sailing dates, and port stops needed for your private plan. We store those structured details, not the uploaded file or pasted source document. PDFs, and text that cannot be parsed reliably on the site, are processed by our AI service provider, Anthropic. Remove passenger names, booking or loyalty numbers, cabin numbers, contact details, and payment information before submitting an itinerary.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we may collect standard log data including your IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages visited. This data is used for site administration and analytics only.

Cookies

We use cookies to improve site functionality. See our Cookie Policy for full details.

How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to enquiries you send us
  • To operate accounts, saved-port lists, cruise plans, and optional email features
  • To parse itinerary details and match port stops to our guides
  • To monitor and improve site performance
  • To comply with legal obligations
  • For anonymous analytics to understand how the site is used

Affiliate Links & Third Parties

Cruises.to contains affiliate links to third-party services including Viator and CruiseDirect. When you click these links, those third parties may set their own cookies and collect data according to their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party data practices.

Our affiliate relationships are disclosed in our Affiliate Disclosure.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only as needed with service providers that help operate the website, including hosting and analytics providers. Uploaded PDFs and text that needs AI-assisted itinerary parsing are sent to Anthropic for that processing. Those providers handle data under their own terms and privacy policies.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA (California), or other applicable laws, including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].

Data Retention

Saved account, port, cruise, and planner data is retained until you delete the saved item or ask us to delete your account data. Uploaded itinerary files and pasted source documents are not retained after processing; the extracted cruise and port details remain in your account. Email correspondence is retained for as long as necessary to resolve your enquiry and for a reasonable period thereafter. Log data is retained for up to 12 months.

Children's Privacy

Cruises.to is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
