One excursion per stop: a 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruise from Port Canaveral

A day-by-day plan for Norwegian's Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, Tortola and Great Stirrup Cay route, with one main booking at each stop.

A seven-night cruise with four port calls can produce a planning tab for every available hour. This route works better with one decision per stop. Book one main outing, keep the route back to the ship clear and let the remaining time stay flexible.

The itinerary is Norwegian Cruise Line’s 7-Night Caribbean from Orlando-Beaches-Port Canaveral via Puerto Plata, St Thomas & Tortola. This itinerary has two sailings in the dates tracked. Each of the other matching routes appears once.

The two tracked departures are November 13, 2026 and May 16, 2027. The ships listed against the itinerary are Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Escape. Check the exact ship attached to your chosen date before booking anything that depends on onboard timing or a meeting point.

Our schedule covers the sailings tracked and undercounts some lines. These two dates describe the departures in this snapshot rather than every sailing Norwegian may sell.

The route at a glance

The cruise leaves Port Canaveral, calls at Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, Road Town in Tortola and Great Stirrup Cay, then returns to Port Canaveral. Days 2 and 6 have no port call in the itinerary sequence, so they are the two sea days.

Day Stop Scheduled times Main decision
1 Port Canaveral Departs 4:00 PM Board and settle in
2 At sea No port call Keep the day unbooked ashore
3 Puerto Plata 9:00 AM-4:00 PM Culture and colonial architecture
4 St. Thomas 11:00 AM-7:00 PM Beach outing
5 Road Town, Tortola 6:45 AM-2:00 PM Scenic drive
6 At sea No port call Leave the day open
7 Great Stirrup Cay 10:30 AM-5:30 PM Ship snorkeling tour and beach
8 Port Canaveral Arrives 7:00 AM Disembark

The route alternates two sea days with four different calls. Puerto Plata and Great Stirrup Cay each have 7 scheduled hours. St. Thomas has 8, while Tortola has 7 hours 15 minutes. Those are published windows, not guaranteed time available after getting off and returning for all-aboard.

Day 1: leave Port Canaveral at 4:00 PM

The scheduled departure is 4:00 PM. Treat embarkation as its own travel day rather than the first excursion day. The job is to board under the line’s instructions, learn the ship and confirm any meeting details for Puerto Plata.

The route is sold by Norwegian Cruise Line. Use Norwegian’s current booking record to match the correct ship to your departure date.

Day 2: the first sea day

There is no port call between the Port Canaveral departure and Puerto Plata on day 3. Use the sea day to confirm Puerto Plata’s excursion time, meeting point and return instructions.

Day 3: Puerto Plata from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Puerto Plata is the first Eastern Caribbean port of call and has a 7-hour scheduled window.

Recommended plan: make local culture and colonial architecture the main outing. The pier is about 0.5 km from the city centre, so the day can start on foot and stay focused on Puerto Plata itself.

Confirm the pickup and drop-off details against the 4:00 PM departure before leaving the ship.

Compare the tours below against the 9:00 AM arrival and 4:00 PM departure, then check the operator’s meeting point against Norwegian’s instructions.

Day 4: St. Thomas from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM

The St. Thomas call starts later, at 11:00 AM, and runs to 7:00 PM. The scheduled window is 8 hours, the longest of the four destination calls on this itinerary.

Recommended plan: choose one beach outing, then use Charlotte Amalie only if the return leaves spare time. Downtown is roughly 5-15 minutes away by foot or a short taxi, depending on the pier.

The late start changes the rhythm. There is no need to plan an early-morning departure from the ship, and the excursion should be selected against the evening sailing time shown on the itinerary. Keep one clear return route rather than combining separate island transfers.

Confirm the exact St. Thomas meeting point before leaving the ship. A tour name alone is not enough to identify where its transport begins.

Day 5: Road Town, Tortola from 6:45 AM to 2:00 PM

Tortola has the earliest arrival and earliest departure of the four calls. The published window is 7 hours 15 minutes, from 6:45 AM to 2:00 PM.

Recommended plan: book one scenic drive for island views. Central Road Town is about a 5-15 minute walk from the pier, so a town walk can remain optional after the main outing.

An early window rewards a plan that is ready before the ship arrives. Confirm breakfast, the meeting location and the operator’s return arrangement the night before. Avoid using the 2:00 PM departure as though it were the time to begin moving back toward the ship.

Treat any time left after the scenic drive as optional, since the ship departs at 2:00 PM.

Day 6: the second sea day

There is no port call between Tortola and Great Stirrup Cay. Day 6 is the second sea day and a natural reset after three consecutive destination days.

Use it to review the day 7 meeting instructions and the 5:30 PM departure. Great Stirrup Cay has a later arrival than the previous stops, so the morning stays onboard.

Day 7: Great Stirrup Cay from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM

Great Stirrup Cay has a 7-hour scheduled window. It is Norwegian’s private island and the final port call before the return to Florida.

Recommended plan: book snorkeling through Norwegian and use the remaining time for the beach. Third-party tours do not operate on the private island, and there is no town transfer to plan.

Check the ship tour against the 10:30 AM arrival and 5:30 PM departure, then leave the rest of the call flexible.

The exact usable time still depends on the ship’s disembarkation process and current instructions.

Day 8: arrive at Port Canaveral at 7:00 AM

The itinerary returns to Port Canaveral at 7:00 AM. That is the scheduled arrival, not a promise that every passenger will be off the ship at that minute. Follow Norwegian’s disembarkation process when arranging the journey onward.

This route ends where it started after 7 nights. Keep day 8 separate from the four excursion days, especially if another reservation depends on leaving the terminal at a precise time.

Why this itinerary is useful to plan

This Norwegian route had two sailings in the tracked window, while each of the other nine matching routes had one.

The two dates make it possible to compare Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Escape while keeping the same sequence of port calls.

The next departures are November 13, 2026 and May 16, 2027. Confirm which ship operates the date you choose, then recheck every scheduled time before buying the four excursions.

Keep the booking rule simple

Start with the published arrival and departure. Check the meeting point and return instructions. Any time left after the main plan can remain unscheduled.

The route already gives each destination a distinct day. Your plan does not need to turn each one into several smaller deadlines. Use the Caribbean port collection to compare any replacement stops before applying this outline to another itinerary.
