Ships dock directly at the pier; the entire port is a fenced resort compound with no town access. You get a guarded, controlled beach environment with organized activities (zip-lining, parasailing, snorkeling, water sports), restaurants, and bars—but no authentic Haiti experience or independent exploration. It's ideal for families and cruisers seeking a carefree beach day without logistical complexity. Most passengers spend 4–8 hours here; there's little reason to stay longer.

Is It Safe?

Labadee itself is secure—the port is a private, guarded, all-inclusive compound with international security and constant supervision. The beaches and activity zones are monitored. That said, Haiti outside the port has real safety challenges (gang activity, petty theft, limited police presence). Do not wander beyond the port gates or dock area. If you book an off-port excursion, use official Royal Caribbean vendors only; independent taxi tours are inadvisable. Keep valuables in your cabin and carry minimal cash.

Accessibility & Walkability

Labadee is relatively accessible within the compound. The pier is flat, beaches have gentle entry, and most activity zones are paved or short-walk accessible.
