This is the single best decision you can make. SAN is close to the port, but airline delays, missed connections, and baggage issues still happen every day.

Downtown hotels may look close on a map, but rolling luggage over busy sidewalks and crossings is not fun. Take a short rideshare if you have heavy bags.
