About Viking Astrea
Viking Astrea is a planned Viking Ocean Cruises small ship scheduled for delivery in 2027. The all-veranda vessel is designed for 998 guests in 499 staterooms, with a slightly larger footprint than Viking’s original 930-guest ocean ships. Its Scandinavian-inspired design emphasizes destination-focused cruising, spacious public areas, and access to smaller ports. Astrea is also planned as a hydrogen-capable ship using liquefied hydrogen, fuel cells, and conventional marine generators in a hybrid propulsion arrangement.

Viking Ocean ships are designed primarily for adult travelers and do not emphasize children’s facilities or family programming.
Pools, spa & wellness
Planned wellness facilities include the Nordic Spa, thermal experiences, fitness facilities, an infinity pool, a covered pool with retractable roof, and outdoor hot tubs.
Accessibility

Environmental features
Astrea is planned as the second Viking hydrogen-capable ocean ship, using liquefied hydrogen and fuel-cell technology alongside conventional generation. The system is intended to support lower-emission and potentially zero-emission operation in suitable conditions.
